1st Day of 6th Grade

All the anxiety and finally the first day of school has begun. Austin went back on Monday and is already swamped with homework. Needless to say football practice is still a five day week so its been a blur. Next week won't be so bad, back to practice Tues, Thurs and Sat. Maybe I might be able to get to the gym again someday!

Here's some pictures of Austin looking so thrilled about being photographed at 6:45 am!

Back to School!

Spent the weekend getting prepared for school. Austin has all new uniforms this year so he was easy, some new socks is all he needed. I took Sue Sue to the mall to get her a new school outfit and If forgot how much fun it is to shop for girls! She ended up with 3 outfits and a pair of sneakers. She was so excited! Old Navy is having a Huge sale on jeans, $7 if you can find the size you need!

After shopping, Courtney and I took her to Chili's for some dinner! Yum, this is the dessert, chocolate lava cake!!

After that Roger and I went to the Playoffs pub to listen to a band. We were out till 12pm oooh really late. We dragged butt yesterday ALL day!

Austin had his football round robin against New Bedford. He scored 2 touchdowns. We'll see what happens next week in the REAL thing!

Football Begins

Last night was Austin's first scrimmage against Warren Swansea! He scored 2 touchdowns! Granted they only used 1/2 the field, hence scrimmage. It was pretty vicious. Some of the kids from Warren Swansea have some attitudes - NOT! One of them called Austin's teamate the "N" word. Can you believe that kids mouth? Austin was not pleased with they way they were treated by the other team. But..........we have the Asst. Football Commissioner as a Coach, so hopefully that will be an isolated incident.

VACATION'S OVER

Well, sorry it took me so long but I tried to stay away from the computer while I was on vacation. It was tough, but after a day or two I got used to it. I'm back to work now and feel like I never left.

Some of the things we did on vacation were.............pictures to come

Saturday, my little "sister" and I went on our first outing together. We went on a 14 mile (well maybe only 12) bike hike on the Eastbay Bike Path. It's starts in Bristol and goes all the way to East Providence. It was fun. We had lots of time to talk. Sue Sue (what she likes to be called) almost got run over a few times. We still haven't learned the biking rules of the road. She was tying her shoe and just ran into the road in front of a speedster! Ahh!! After catching our breath we stopped for an ice cream cone, there's a cute little place on the bike path right next to a Dell's Lemonade stand. After that we stopped and picked up some corn and went home and swam in the newly renovated POOL!!! Yep the pool is ready! All in All the first visit with my new little "sister" went great.

Sunday was a journey to Six Flags. We piled into my little matrix with a few neighborhood kids a drove to Springfield. Roger and I followed closely to the roller coaster maniacs. It usually takes me a few hours to get up my nerve. Once I did, and as I was waiting in line for the wooden roller coaster, it started raining!!! Not just sprinkles either. It was monsouns and thunder and lightening! We had to seek shelter in a little "Funny Hats" gift shop for at least an hour. Once it stopped raining, we trucked around for a bit to see if they would reopen the rides. Of course, if you ask a staff member they don't know what is going on. After the 2nd hour of walking around, we overheard someone say there was another storm coming through. We decided it was time to go. When going through the turnstyle, we opted not to get our handstamped (why?). As we were approaching the car, the rides started running!!! Can you believe it? The boys were so disappointed. Oh well, we still got home at 9:30 because we hit traffic.

Let's see rain Monday, Tuesday, yeah finally the sun came out Wednesday! Got to enjoy the pool for the rest of the week and work on our tans. I picked up my little sister again on Friday and we hung by the pool again. She really loves to swim.

Wednesday, went to see Celine Dion with Sue V. Laughed like hell on the way up listening to some comedian. Laughed so hard I cried and couldn't see the road! The concert was good, had a great time and always lots of laughs! "what the heck is that smell"

Saturday we had a cookout, it was our 15 year anniversary! No one drank my martinis because they were too strong. So I had to drink them!! It was fun, got to see some old friends and some new.

Sunday was OMG nurse this hangover day. I dragged butt and Roger cleaned up.

Dull Monday

Not much today. Roger is on vacation so he finished off his honeydew list and made a wonderful supper. Salisbury steak with gravy and real mashed potatoes, ummm. It always taste so yummy when someone else does the cooking.

Looks like the kids went in the pool again as I see lots of towels hanging on the deck. Again a site for sore eyes. I might even get to go in myself soon.

I had a meeting with my Big Friend/Little Friend, Sue Hesketh today. It's a part of Big Brother/Big Sister, she is my mentee. I met her Mom and brothers today and after todays meeting we can go on outings together. We made a list of things to do and one of things she wants to do first is go for a bike ride. She doesn't have a bike so I'm looking for a "hand me down", for now she can use Austins. I think I'll take her to Colt State Park, then maybe for lunch. She's 11 years old and a sweetheart. I hope you all get to meet her soon.

Here's a picture of us during the "SMILES" program that took place at her school.

Jeff came over to bring the "real" ring to Courtney after being sized. She is soooo excited. She's already looking at wedding dresses! $$$$$$$ Here we go!

Exciting Weekend!

I know I have you on the edge of your seats, but we must go in chronilogical order.

Friday was a crazy night, football started and all paperwork was due. August 1 is like Christmas Eve for popwarner football players. There were even older kids there that have moved on to high school checking out the practice.

Courtney and I went to Boot Camp together (a class hosted by two of the instructors from WOW), I think she kicked my butt this time.

Saturday was an ALL DAY baseball event in Dartmouth. The first game we played Easton and guess what? We WON! The kids really needed this win to boost there self esteem. It's been a tough All-Star season.

BUT....................during this game I received a phone call from Jeff, Courtney's boyfriend. I found it odd because he's the email king, especially now with his IPhone! He asked me if we were at home and I told him I was at Austin's game. He said "oh. Well, I'm going to ask Courtney to marry me tomorrow and I am asking your permission" WHAT!!! OH MY GOD I shouted! Luckily, I was on the bleachers in the outfield by myself. I started to sob uncontrollably, Jeff was concerned that someone would stare at me. I assured him that I didn't care, but that I was alone and it was okay! Let me CRY! Once I was able to contain myself, he filled me in on the details. They were going for massages in the morning, out to dinner and then to Fort Phoenix where they met for the big question. I told Roger I didn't think he'd make it past the massage. Ha ha!
After we hung up, I needed to tell someone. I started to cry again and now I want to shout but the people that saw me cry earlier were ignoring me thinking I'm having some kind of breakdown. So I called Tracy (Chandler's Mom) because she's my parent-partner during baseball and she wasn't anywhere to be found. I said "where are you" and she said "I'm pulling into the parking lot, why?" all I could get out was "I'm crying and I'm all alone". Now she's thinking what is wrong with this chick, but assured me she would be here STAT! She showed up and I told her the story. I could see the goosebumps!!Thanks Tray!

So the game is over, we win, now we play tonite at 7 pm. We rush home because the "pool guy" is there and we want to take advantage of his presence. He finished up what he had to do and I was able to throw the chemicals in and the aquabot so we anticipate the pool to be ready by tomorrow. Just waiting on the cement to be poured and we are ready for a party!!!Well almost......Shortly after I threw in the chemicals the sky opened up and down came the rain. Thinking that the baseball game was going to be cancelled, (because that's what the weather man indicated) I poured myself a drink (tequila and ruby red to be exact). I was just starting to relax when I noticed the friggin sun was out. Oh crap, back to the baseball field!

The kids played another good game but ended up losing 5-3. The kids got to play under the lights but it was late (hour rain delay) and you could tell they were tired. Next game tomorrow, 2:30.

It was tough being around Courtney without saying anything, I wanted her to just go.......I'm so bad at keeping secrets. I kept my phone by my side all day just in case Jeff didn't make it to the beach. The baseball game was a quick one (we got 10 run ruled). Uncle Timmy showed up to watch and he has yet to see Austin's team win.

Home we go. Austin and Chandler were able to jump in the pool! Yeah its officially open! The neighbors must've heard the splashing because before you knew it the pool was full of kids. It was a sight for sore eyes. We cooked on the grille and lit a fire, it was great.

FINALLY, my phone rings. 5PM He made it to the beach!!! Courtney called me crying, "did you know something i didn't know" sniff sniff! I laughed and congratulated her. She had no idea. Their plan is Fall 2010. Plenty of time to plan a wedding. I'm happy for both of them, I hope they enjoy every minute......sniff sniff.

Here's a picture of the ring. I haven't seen the live one yet because she has to have it sized.

4 inches

Austin went for his "preteen" physical today. I'm not sure why they call it that. They schedule it at a special time of the day and only "preteens" have appointments at this time. The doctor didn't do anything different than she has the past 12 years. The only thing different is Austin doesn't yank her stethescope off her neck anymore! Anyway, grew 4 inches since last year and gained a few pounds. Which was devistating for him because football starts today. His max weight for his age is 100 and he weighed 103. The rigorous workout he is about to encounter will take off those pounds I'm sure.

Here is a picture of him in the drs office in his skivvys!

Got home at a decent hour so I had time for Step and Spin class. Won't be at the gym next week, football starts! So much for my life as I know it now.

Baseball ends (Austin sliding into home
)
